Series Made Simple

Nothing attracts young readers to botany as much as a book about meat-eating plants, but the other titles in this series will also be crowd-pleasers. Students will find plenty of amazing facts and photos to enjoy. The images dominate each spread, and the text is usually a short paragraph with an occasional “Did You Know?” textbox. Along with the information and captivating photos (honey possums will be a favorite), there are also helpful diagrams clearly labeled for easy reference. The series offers “Ideas for Teachers and Parents” at the beginning of each title, but it is the same general guide for each book. A suggested activity, complete with a list of materials and step-by-step directions, concludes each work. VERDICT A useful purchase for lessons on photosynthesis, adaptations, and natural resources, as well as updating the botany section in general.
